  • The Cook plays a vital role in meal preparation, ensuring that food is prepared efficiently, safely, and in compliance with nutritional standards for patients. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to strict safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining sanitary food service operations.
  • Essential Functions:
  • 1.
Responsible for the preparation of meals following approved menus, dietary guidelines, and portion control standards. 2. Work collaboratively with the food service team to meet daily meal production goals. 3. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food. 4. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including sanitizing prep surfaces and properly storing food. 5. Adhere to facility security protocols, including supervision and safe handling of kitchen tools and maintaining an accurate and complete count of all required tools. 6. Monitor inventory of food and supplies using production systems and ensure timely availability of required items or approved alternatives for preparation. 7. Serve and ensure proper serving of food for tray line and dining room. 8. Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance. 9. It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so. 10. Regular and predictable attendance required. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. One year full-time, wage-earning experience in commercial or institutional food preparation or food service management. Must have and maintain, valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Post Hire Requirements:
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility test and pass an annual background check.
