Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Digital Evidence Manager plays a critical role in managing, organizing, and maintaining digital evidence submitted by law enforcement agencies within the county. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of all digital evidence, facilitates its use in legal proceedings, and provides technical support for the associated software application. The Digital Evidence Manager is responsible for overseeing the submission process, ensuring data accuracy, and offering training and technical assistance to users. In addition, they are responsible for troubleshooting software-related issues and coordinating with the software vendor for advanced support when necessary. This position reports to the Office Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, catalog, and organize digital evidence submissions from law enforcement agencies. Verify the accuracy of file submissions and ensure they match the content described. Maintain strict chain of custody protocols for all digital evidence. Provide technical support to end-users, including law enforcement personnel, legal professionals, and other authorized personnel on digital evidence software applications. Troubleshoot minor technical issues related to the digital evidence software applications and coordinate with the software vendors for resolution of complex technical issues that require vendor support. Fully documents each issue and resolution; update our knowledge library. Responsible for the quality assurance process of new software application releases, patches, and hot fixes by reviewing the software and contacting the vendor when issues are detected. Develops and documents standard operating procedures for various processes and updates existing documentation as required. Works collaboratively with end-users, law enforcement agencies and Information Systems personnel as it relates to application delivery, support, and problem management, including, but not limited to, the management of police reports and complex evidentiary systems such as body cameras, in-car cameras, and commercial surveillance systems. Manages and creates automated workflow within the case management system of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Maintains a secure and organized digital evidence database. Implement data retention policies and ensure the safe archiving and disposal of digital evidence as required by regulations and law. Accountable for preparing, analyzing, maintaining, and presenting statistical reports for the office using SQL Reports, Karpel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and other resources. Ability to prioritize issues, tasks, and projects within the team and individually; also adjust accordingly as situations change. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree; preferably in computer science. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Job Experience 1-2 years of experience in evidence management or records management, application/tech support, or related work. Knowledge, skills and abilities Strong understanding of digital evidence management or records management. Proficiency with digital evidence software applications and relevant technologies. Excellent communication and training skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Familiarity with legal regulations and requirements related to digital evidence management is preferred. Prior experience working with law enforcement agencies or within the legal system. Experience with various types of digital evidence or records, such as video, audio, and digital documents. Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
