Job Description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Must have Alzheimer's and Dementia Experience. Compensation $25
  • 32 per hour, based on experience. Schedule Starting at a minimum of 25 hours per week, 5:00 PM
  • 10:00 PM, transitioning in approximately two months to a live-in schedule of 4:30 PM
  • 10:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
About This Role ASG Home Care is looking for a warm, patient, and experienced Direct Support Professional to provide dedicated one-on-one care for a 62-year-old gentleman with Alzheimer's and Down Syndrome in his home in Hopatcong, NJ. This is a long-term, stable position with a genuinely kind and gentle client who has a wonderful personality. If you are a seasoned caregiver who values consistency, patience, and building a real relationship with the person in your care, this role is a great fit for you. What You'll Be Doing Providing personal care and assistance with ADLs (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting) Offering close supervision and hands-on support due to limited vision and balance concerns Communicating with patience and repetition, as the client requires frequent reminders and reassurance Supporting mobility and safe movement throughout the home Assisting with meals, hydration, and daily routines Coordinating with the client's sister, who is also present in the home Documenting care and shift notes as required What We're Looking For Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, or dementia is strongly preferred A calm, mature, and nurturing presence — someone who leads with compassion and doesn't get flustered Patience, consistency, and the ability to stay engaged and attentive during long shifts Strong observational skills and comfort with close, hands-on supervision Reliability — this client and his family count on you being there CPR/First Aid certified Valid NJ driver's license a plus Must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Hopatcong, NJ Why This Position Stands Out Stable, long-term placement with a consistent client Supportive family environment — you won't be working alone A client who is mobile, sweet-natured, and easy to connect with A care agency that treats its DSPs with respect and communicates clearly
