Direct Support Professional - ResidentialHelp Others to
We have great opportunities for positive, motivated individuals to work in a residential setting assisting adults diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities in becoming self-sufficient and self-actualized. Get in on the ground floor and train for an entry level career in the healthcare/education field! In this position, you will: Help people supported achieve/exceed their personal goals Provide structure and emotional support Assist in resolving behavioral issues Help people supported with personal hygiene needs Complete detailed, accurate documentation Transport program participants to and from medical appointments and recreation activities using Agency vehicles We require:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Clean, valid New York State drivers license. Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing. Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train. Cooking and light housekeeping may be required. Must obtain and maintain AMAP and SCIP certificationsThe ability to perform SCIP maneuvers which may require bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, lying on the ground, and supporting another persons body weight.
The ability to reach, bend, twist, kneel, and squat as you assist people with physical activities. The ability to assist with lifting and transferring a person. The ability to lift up to 15 lbs. Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plusApply online at www.acld.org or text us for more information at 516-732-3979.
