Direct Support Professional for severe Autism Harrisburg, NC 28075 From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional specializing in severe autism with the following skills: basic sign language, willingness to learn, CPR, and First Aid, working knowledge of behavioral management. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support to individuals with developmental disabilities, primarily focusing on those with severe autism. Your energetic and proactive approach will help foster independence, promote positive behavior, and enhance quality of life. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day by implementing behavioral health strategies, assisting with daily living activities, and creating a nurturing environment for growth and development. Responsibilities Deliver individualized care by assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, feeding, and hygiene routines. Implement behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies to support positive behavior change. Collect and document data related to client behaviors, progress, and responses to interventions accurately and consistently. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and update personalized care plans tailored to each individual's needs. Support clients in educational settings by applying special education principles and teaching functional skills. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding medical records, documentation, and sensitive information. Foster a safe and supportive environment by managing behavior effectively through behavioral health and behavior management techniques while ensuring client safety at all times. Requirements Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, especially those diagnosed with severe autism. Knowledge of behavioral therapy methods, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies. Ability to assist with ADLs and provide patient care in a respectful and encouraging manner. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to confidentiality and data security. Excellent communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, educators, and healthcare professionals.
