Job Description About the Company Elite Casino Resorts currently owns and operates seven premier gaming and resort destinations throughout the Midwest. Customer service is at the core of what we do. Our facilities feature modern yet comfortable décor and the very best in amenities including spas, first-class golf courses, fine dining, casual dining and shopping. About the Role The Accounting Director is responsible for the leadership, direction, and coordination of the Shared Services Accounting staff overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring timely, accurate and consistent property and consolidated financial reporting is achieved; maintaining and improving general policies and procedures; and the safeguarding of company assets while being a champion for the department and company overall.
Essential Functions:
Provides exceptional guest service to all customers both external and internal. Responsible for creating a path to success for the team by developing team knowledge and abilities through training, mentoring, teamwork, and collaboration. Communicates expectations to staff, set goals and provide feedback for their development path Promote an environment of collaboration as an "Elite Team" consisting of all companies as one team that is Better Together. Provide and maintain a positive work environment for all Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Ensures company accounting policies and procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and are consistent with gaming laws, regulations, and internal controls. Provide support to Finance and Other Departments for all Elite companies ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency throughout Assists with reviewing, recommending, establishing, and maintaining internal control procedures and structures to best safeguard company assets. Plans, directs and organizes accurate and timely reporting of forecasting and financial information including consolidations Review for ways to improve accuracy and efficiency in processes and reporting Coordinates and manages the month-end close process of financial statement preparation and analysis including on a consolidated basis. Ensures compliance and timely payment of all gaming taxes and regulatory fees, sales & use tax, and other applicable reporting requirements. Reviews and approves financial transactions, reconciliations, and fluctuations in revenues, expenses and inventory to ensure integrity of the operation. Coordinates and manages applicable areas of quarterly and year-end audits for both internal and external audits, leading the annual consolidated financial audit. In collaboration with the Corporate Finance Director, Executives, property Finance Directors, manages the annual budgets for all Elite companies. Maintain knowledgeable qualified staff that enables the department to effectively accomplish company goals and objectives. Provides ad-hoc management reporting and participates in in ad-hoc finance projects as directed Must be able to multi-task and prioritize accordingly Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree CPA or MBA Preferred Minimum of 5 years prior experience of accounting department leadership. Must possess a strong financial accounting knowledge (consolidated reporting desired) Casino experience and knowledge is desired Experience with and knowledge of federal/state/local reporting requirements. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of organization. Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize accordingly Strong computer skills including Excel and ERP systems (accounting software) Ability to solve problems and/or make recommendations for solving problems depending on the situation. Strong leadership skills and ability to lead by example and delegate tasks appropriately. Must be a self-starter with the desire to own the position and desire to continue to learn and improve personally in the position
