Full-Time, Exempt Killington Mountain School (KMS) Killington, Vermont About Killington Mountain School Situated at the base of Killington Resort, Killington Mountain School (KMS) is a NEASC accredited college-preparatory independent school for student-athletes in grades 6-12. KMS delivers a rigorous academic program integrated with elite training in alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle moguls, freeskiing, and downhill mountain biking. The school's mission is to develop disciplined, resilient, and high-achieving students prepared for success in college, competition, and life. The Opportunity Killington Mountain School seeks a motivated, highly organized, and relationship-driven Director of Admissions to lead the school's enrollment activity. This is a hands-on, outward-facing role for a professional who enjoys building connections, managing a high volume of communication, and guiding prospective families from initial inquiry through enrollment. The Director of Admissions will serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and returning families during the enrollment process. Working closely with the Head of School and internal partners, the Director will execute enrollment priorities, build a strong pipeline of prospective students, and ensure a responsive, personalized experience for every family. Key Responsibilities Lead the full admissions process from inquiry through enrollment, ensuring a timely, personalized, and mission-aligned experience for prospective families Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective families, representing the school through tours, events, and outreach. Guide prospective and returning families through the admission and renewal/retention process with clarity and consistency, maintaining proactive communication and timely follow-up to ensure strong enrollment outcomes Manage and advance pipeline of inquiries and applicants, maintaining organization and momentum throughout the process Represent KMS at competitions and recruitment events Build and maintain relationships with feeder programs, coaches, and community partners Manage financial aid processes in alignment with enrollment policy and priorities Responsible for Full Term, Winter Term, BOOST, and camp enrollment, in partnership with athletic program directors, and academic leadership. Maintain accurate records in the admissions CRM and track key metrics to support decision-making and continuous improvement Collaborate with faculty, coaches, and staff to support enrollment and retention efforts Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred Demonstrated success in admissions, enrollment management, sales or related field Experience in independent schools with strong athletic programs is strongly preferred, experience with competitive alpine ski racing, freeskiing, freestyle moguls, snowboarding and/or downhill mountain biking is a plus. Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position with benefits including a 401k retirement plan after one year of employment, health insurance, HSA, discounted season pass to Killington/Pico, generous vacation and holiday PTO per the academic calendar, facility access for meals and fitness, and tuition remission for qualifying dependent children. Compensation is commensurate with experience, with a target range of $60,000-$85,000 with the opportunity for additional performance-based incentives aligned with enrollment growth and retention goals.
