Director of Care Ministries Job Description (part-time)
Position Overview:
The Director of Care Ministries is a part-time, salaried ministry position responsible for overseeing the Ren Cares Ministry. Ren Cares empowers the church to use their time, talents, and treasures to care for the needs of people within our church, our community, and around the world. These activities include special benevolence, internal and external ministries, missions, and support groups.
Responsibilities:
Vision and Strategy Develop and implement a clear vision for compassion and care ministries aligned with our mission. Identify needs within the congregation and in local, national, and international communities. Create scalable systems and teams for care and outreach as the church grows. Special Benevolence Manage the special benevolence program and budget Support camp and mission trip scholarships as part of the benevolence budget Lead and manage the Benevolence Team, making recommendations for granting benevolence funds to support congregants in need and administering benevolence requests in a timely fashion External Ren Cares Ministries Recruit team leaders and volunteers to participate in external mission activities Manage the Ren Cares budget for all external missions Investigate and evaluate opportunities for new external initiatives, ensuring they are aligned with Renaissance Church's mission and vision Build partnerships and manage external ministries, including (but not limited to): Christmas for Kids (Union County) City Relief (Newark, Paterson) Food Security Initiatives Meal Kit Program/ Nourish NJ (Morris County) Community Pantry/ SHARE Alliance (Springfield, NJ) Hope of Life International (Zacapa, Guatemala) Hoving Home (Oxford, NJ) International Justice Mission (USA/Global) South Asian Faith Engagement (Edison,, NJ) South Asia Ministries (Pakistan, India, Nepal) World Vision/ Team World Vision (Global) Young Life Capernaum (Union County) Administrative Relationships This position is accountable to and supervised by the Director of Staff This position prepares and manages the annual Ren Cares budget This position coordinates and supervises the Ren Cares ministry leaders and volunteers This position works in conjunction with staff and pastors through direct coordination as needed Required Experience Extensive experience leading diverse compassion ministries, with a successful track record of recruiting, training, managing, and maintaining volunteer engagement Direct involvement with local, national, or global mission partnerships, including evaluating and stewarding ministry relationships Experience managing ministry budgets, grant distributions, and/or benevolence funds with financial accountability and discretion Oversight and facilitation of support groups, such as GriefShare, DivorceCare, recovery ministries, or similar care-based initiatives Demonstrated successful collaboration with nonprofit organizations, community partners, social services, and/or parachurch ministries Cross-cultural ministry engagement and sensitivity to diverse communities Strategic planning experience aligned with the the church's mission, vision, and long-term ministry growth Strong organizational systems experience, including tracking and analysis of ministry participation and impact Pastoral care experience desirable, including crisis response, grief support, and walking alongside individuals and families in hardship Qualifications Demonstration of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ A clear passion and calling for compassion ministries, missions, and initiatives, and the ability to develop and foster strong relationships A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university Willingness to be a team player and committed to working alongside Renaissance Church pastors and staff Agreement with the doctrinal position of Renaissance Church Please email your resumé to Glory DeSimone at glory@renchurch.com Director of Ren Cares
