Job Description

Director of Development (Part-Time) Join the Mission at Friend to Friend Friend to Friend is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Development to help advance our mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Based in Carthage, Friend to Friend provides life-changing services through our advocacy center, emergency shelter, transitional housing program, and 24/7 crisis line. Our services include emergency shelter, court advocacy, clinical counseling, support groups, hospital accompaniment, outreach, and prevention education. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional who is passionate about mission-driven work and building sustainable community support. Position Summary The Director of Development is a part-time leadership position (20-30 hours per week) responsible for leading Friend to Friend's fundraising, partnership development, and external engagement strategies. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and working closely with the Board of Directors, the Director of Development will create and implement a comprehensive development strategy that increases philanthropic investment, strengthens community partnerships, and expands organizational visibility throughout the region. The ideal candidate is a relationship-centered leader with demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, grant development, and strategic partnerships. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute strategic fundraising initiatives. Contribute to organizational growth and long-term sustainability as part of the leadership team. Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization. Fund Development Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan that includes: Major gifts Individual giving Corporate partnerships Foundation and government grants Fundraising events Endowment growth Establish fundraising goals and monitor progress toward revenue targets. Lead strategic initiatives such as capital campaigns and long-term investment opportunities. Donor & Community Engagement Cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective supporters. Represent Friend to Friend at community events, donor meetings, and partnership opportunities. Marketing & External Affairs Support communication and outreach efforts that increase visibility and community awareness. Help tell the organization's story through strategic messaging, partnerships, and public engagement. Development Operations Oversee donor management systems and development processes. Provide regular fundraising reports and updates to leadership and the Board of Directors. Ensure compliance with grant reporting and donor stewardship requirements. Qualifications 3-5+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising and development experience. Proven success securing significant philanthropic revenue and managing donor relationships. Experience with major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and fundraising campaigns. Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Experience working with nonprofit boards, leadership teams, and CRM systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a mission-driven team. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$25,000-$35,000 annually (Commensurate with experience, fundraising success, and development portfolio)
