Exempt Job Summary The Director of Digital Teaching and Learning provides visionary leadership, strategic planning, and implementation of digital learning initiatives across the district. This role ensures the effective integration of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. The Director supports educators in leveraging digital tools, promotes innovative instructional practices, and ensures equitable access to high-quality digital resources for all students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive district-wide digital learning plan aligned with instructional goals and strategic priorities. Lead the integration of instructional technology to enhance student engagement, achievement, and personalized learning. Provide leadership in the selection, implementation, and evaluation of digital tools, platforms, and instructional resources. Design and oversee professional development for staff on effective digital teaching practices and emerging technologies. Collaborate with curriculum leaders to embed digital learning into instructional frameworks and content areas. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies related to digital learning, data privacy, and cybersecurity. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of digital learning initiatives using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement. Support the development and implementation of online, blended, and remote learning opportunities. Oversee digital equity initiatives to ensure all students and staff have access to devices, connectivity, and digital resources. Collaborate with IT staff to ensure infrastructure supports instructional needs. Manage budgets, grants, and funding sources related to digital learning and instructional technology. Stay current on trends, research, and best practices in digital teaching and learning. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises instructional technology staff, digital learning coaches, and other assigned personnel. Conducts performance evaluations and supports professional growth of assigned staff. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Leadership, or related field (Doctorate preferred). Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience. Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in instructional technology or curriculum development.
Certifications:
Valid NC teaching license required. School Administrator/Principal licensure preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of digital learning platforms, instructional technology, and blended learning models. Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale initiatives and manage change effectively. Expertise in professional development design and adult learning theory. Knowledge of data privacy laws and cybersecurity practices in education. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making. Strong problem-solving and strategic planning skills. Working Conditions Office and school-based environment with frequent travel between sites. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Terms of Employment 12-month position Salary based on district salary schedule and experience Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies and procedures for administrative personnel.
