1 Job description : The Chicago Marriott O'Hare is looking for a Director of Engineering to join this awesome team! Previous hotel engineering, management/supervisory experience and Marriott Hotels experience strongly preferred.
Overview:
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for managing the physical property/equipment, life safety systems, and engineering team while supporting the overall success of the hotel operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the physical property including, but not limited to the operating equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, & life safety systems at optimum effectiveness and efficiency. Manage the engineering budget. Supervise the engineering team and day-to-day operations of the department. Effectively plan, schedule, manage, and evaluate the preventative maintenance program. Ensure compliance with all Engineering/hotel policies, standards & procedures. Manage the department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals. Research pricing, order/purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed and/or budgeted. Inspect & evaluate the physical condition of the facilities in order to determine the type of work required. Maintain accurate logs and records, as required. Establish priorities for total property maintenance needs. Ensure on-going communication with the engineering team to create awareness of business objectives, expectations, and recognition of exemplary performance. Utilize interpersonal & communication skills to lead, influence, & encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example. Set a positive example for employee relations. Solicit employee feedback, utilize an "open door" policy and review employee results to identify and address employee problems or concerns. Conduct departmental meetings and continually communicate a clear and consistent message regarding the department goals to produce desired results. Superb time management skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of projects while staying organized.
Qualifications:
4 years' experience in hotel engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or 2 year degree from an accredited university/trade school in building and construction, engineering, mechanics, or related major. Previous Management/Supervisory experience. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance at times. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight. Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time. Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Must be effective at approaching all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Perform other duties as requested by management.
Availability:
Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
