Job Description
Position Summary The Director of Government Affairs and Community Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's governmental relations and advocacy strategy to advance the mission of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position serves as the primary liaison between the health center and federal, state, and local government entities, regulatory agencies, policymakers, and healthcare advocacy organizations. This is a part-time position designed to support the organization's strategic advocacy and community engagement efforts. The Director monitors legislative and regulatory developments affecting community health centers and works collaboratively with executive leadership to ensure the organization remains compliant with federal and state regulations while actively advocating for policies that support access to care for underserved populations. Camden County, NJ (Hybrid/Travel as Required) Key Responsibilities Government Relations & Advocacy Develop and implement a strategic governmental affairs plan aligned with the organization's mission and strategic goals. Serve as the primary liaison with federal, state, and local government officials, legislators, and regulatory agencies. Monitor and analyze legislation, regulatory developments, and policy initiatives affecting Federally Qualified Health Centers, including HRSA, Medicaid, Medicare, and public health programs. Coordinate policy education and advocacy activities in collaboration with national andstatehealth center associations in compliance with federal grant requirements and applicable lobbying regulations. Prepare policy briefings, legislative updates, and strategic recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Represent the health center at governmental meetings, hearings, policy forums, and public health coalitions. Policy & Regulatory Compliance Track and interpret federal and state regulatory changesimpactingFQHC operations, including HRSA program requirements. Provide guidance to leadershipregardingcompliance implications of new healthcare legislation or regulations. Assistin responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, and policy initiatives. Support the organization inmaintainingawareness of federal grant funding requirements and legislative priorities affecting funding streams. Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement Develop relationships with policymakers, healthcare advocacy groups, community leaders, and partner organizations. Coordinate visits with elected officials and policymakers to health center facilities. Facilitate engagement with community stakeholders to promote healthcare policy initiativesbenefitingunderserved populations. Collaborate with internal leadership to align advocacy efforts with operational priorities. Monitor and evaluate community outreach and engagement activities to ensure alignment withCAMcare'smission, community health needs assessments, and population health initiatives. Legislative Monitoring & Reporting Monitor legislative activity related to: Community Health Center funding Medicaid reimbursement Public health programs Workforce development initiatives Social determinants of health Prepare legislative summaries, policy analyses, and recommendations. Inform leadership and Board members of legislativedevelopmentand advocacy opportunities. Organizational Representation Represent the organization in local, state, and national coalitions addressing healthcare policy issues. Support leadership participation in advocacy events such as Community Health Center Day, legislative briefings, and healthcare policy forums. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree required in one of the following fields: Public Policy Public Administration Healthcare Administration Political Science Law or related field Master's degree preferred (MPA, MPH, MPP, or JD). Experience Minimum 5-7 years of experience in governmental affairs, healthcare policy, legislative affairs, or public administration. Experience working with healthcare organizations, nonprofit organizations, or FQHCs strongly preferred . Demonstrated experience working with federal or state healthcare policy and legislative processes. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential Work Schedule This is a part-time position. Work hours and schedule will be determined based on organizational needs and may include occasional evenings or travel for meetings and events.Compensation:
This is a part-time position with an annual salary of $75,000, as approved by leadership. Compensation is aligned with CAMcare's internal structure and commensurate with the scope and responsibilities of the role.
