: Full-Time (260 Days) Position Overview Our A High School Principal serves as the instructional leader and chief administrator responsible for bridging the gap between high-level academic standards and hands-on technical excellence. Their primary mission is to develop and manage diverse career pathways that prepare students for entry into a competitive workforce or advanced post-secondary education. This involves overseeing daily operations, supervising specialized faculty, and ensuring all programs—ranging from engineering to healthcare—comply with state and federal funding requirements. The Principal acts as a liaison to industry partners and community stakeholders, coordinating work-based learning opportunities and industry-approved certifications to ensure curriculum remains relevant to current market demands.Key Responsibilities:
Assumes the responsibility for all routine functions that are inherent with day-to-day high school operations Is actively involved in the effective delivery and continuous improvement of secondary education programs to achieve Auburn Career Center's written, implemented, and assessed curricula and mandated proficiencies. Promotes an environment where the school is continuously improving on the items defined in the strategic plan. Upholds Board policies and follows established administrative procedures. Serves as the instructional leader of the building staff and focuses on improvement of instruction. Promotes a favorable image of Auburn Career Center. Attends community functions as assigned. Participates as an active member of Auburn Career Center's management team. Helps develop and implement Auburn Career Center's strategic plan. Analyzes and uses data to improve school operations. Interacts with advisory committees when assigned as they help identify career/technical programs and services deemed essential by school partners, employers, and the community. Develops performance goals and a strategy to accomplish approved objectives within specified time lines. Maintains effective communications with staff to resolve problems and sustain progress. Is knowledgeable of courses of study, scope and sequence framework, and State standards/guidelines. Administers the Board-approved budget. Ensures that collection and dispersal procedures are properly documented. Prepares purchase requisitions for assigned areas of responsibilities. Collaborates with Adult Education staff to ensure the effective use of shared resources and facilities. Enforces applicable Ohio Revised Codes. Administers policies regarding age, immunization, attendance, legal residence, guardianship, etc. Prepares and maintains accurate student attendance records for all secondary students and submits required reports on time. Additional records as assigned are also prepared and maintained. Ensures the safe retention of Auburn Career Center documents for the maximum period specified by board policy and state law. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information. Promotes the effective use of available technology in instructional and records management activities. Enforces computer technology "acceptable use" policies. Utilizes and promotes technology at all levels Participates in staff selection and orientation processes when called upon. Serves on the Local Professional Development committee as directed. Assist in providing leadership in the planning and delivery of staff in-service programs. Monitors staff performance (e.g., observations, review of lesson plans, individual conferences, staff meetings, etc.) as assigned. Supervises and evaluates assigned staff. Maintains high standards for student conduct. Upholds the student conduct code. Helps teachers with discipline issues. Prepares student conduct and discipline recommendations for the Superintendent's consideration. Oversees the supervision of and helps in building activities (e.g., student arrival/departure, loading buses, parking lots, lunch periods, hall duty, etc.). Implements procedures to protect school property and help ensure the health, safety, and well being of students, staff and visitors. Reports unauthorized persons or suspicious circumstances immediately. Responds to building emergencies as requested. Provides for the supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of co-curricular and extracurricular student activities. Maintains effective relationships with community services (e.g., law enforcement, health care facilities, child welfare services, etc.). Maintains visibility and participates in Career Center activities. Maintains a positive relationship with Associate School Districts. Participates in professional growth opportunities to keep current with advances in education and organizational administration. Promotes teamwork. Serves as a positive role model for others. Helps students develop ethical principles and democratic ideals. Provides on-going professional development for staff and demonstrates a commitment to sound research-based instructional practices. Performs other administrative duties within the building as provided by directive and policies from the Superintendent. Engages staff in making changes based on student, faculty and community feedback. Establishes and maintains an environment that leads to positive staff morale and to achievement of the mission of the District and the school. Creates an environment that recognizes the diverse needs of students, faculty and community. Manages personnel effectively through appropriate delegation, planning, and evaluation. Fosters an environment where staff and faculty work cooperatively together.QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education with Principal/Administrative licensure Five years of experience in Administration with a preference given to Career and Technical Education Excellent interpersonal relations and oral and written communication skills Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, building and department procedures Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the Superintendent Proficiency in operating office equipment and using modern office technology, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and virtual meeting platforms. Drug-Free Workplace Requirement Employees shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his or her employment in the District in accordance with Board policy. Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent, depending on circumstances and unpredictable factors. Duties may require lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment up to 60 lbs. Duties may frequently or occasionally require performing repetitive tasks quickly, using fingers and hands. Duties may require frequent or occasional use of the computer keyboard and monitor. Duties may frequently require standing, reaching, bending, crouching, and/or kneeling. Duties may require working extended hours. Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines. Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
