Nassau Community College invites applications for a full-time Director of Special Programs in the Office of Admissions to provide a broad range of support in the planning, organizing, and managing of all activities related to all assigned department(s)/area(s), as aligned to the College's Strategic Plan and Goals, using the highest of ethical standards. In addition, the Director of Special Programs works expeditiously and diligently on behalf of the institution, while operating with a data-informed and equity-focused approach to enhance student access and enrollment, in collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders; is responsible for: the overall coordination, delivery, and supervision of all admissions services, as well as driving first-year and transfer enrollment growth through strategic recruitment, admissions operations, and data-informed decision-making; developing recruitment material(s) and schedule/conduct visitation programs on and off campus for all prospective students; collaborating with all necessary departments of the College to ensure that all necessary admissions programs are effective; collaborating with all necessary departments of the College to integrate admissions-related strategies designed to improve retention and student success; collaborating with all necessary student service offices of the College, including but not limited to the Office(s) of Academic Advisement, Registrar, Student Financial Services, and Financial Aid, on matters related to recruitment and retention; maintaining the integrity and use of all assigned program(s)/communication system(s), including but not limited to, SLATE, or similar programs; ensuring all admissions records are accurate; providing maximum services to students while ensuring efficient and effective workflow; providing leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology application in support of enhanced services offered through the office; collaborating with other administrative offices of the College to facilitate and improve services to students; administering the collective bargaining agreements for the support staff and non-teaching faculty; developing, supervising, and directing staff as assigned; participating in professional development activities; maintaining current knowledge of laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and pending legislation, relative to areas of responsibility; assisting with all reporting, external and internal, necessary for local, state and/or federal compliance in assigned area(s); assisting with implementation, assessment and evaluation of policies, processes and procedures related to assigned area(s); assisting in identifying and eliminating redundancies in assigned area(s), as well as working collaboratively with other administrators to eliminate redundancies and ensure effective and efficient operation of the College; working collaboratively with all relevant constituencies in the College and the Community to support efforts in assigned area(s); exhibiting fiscal responsibility and accountability in the development and administering of the annual budget for the department; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established resources and limitations, as directed; serving on College committees, as assigned; working effectively with diverse populations; other duties as assigned.Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a related area; five (5) years of direct experience in higher education admissions or five (5) years of experience in a related area; experience with current management system(s) and programs used in higher education and/or the related area(s), including but not limited to Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, SLATE, Visio, and Adobe Professional, as well as being proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint); knowledge of best practices used in higher education admissions processes; familiarity with the application of technology related to the assigned area; familiarity with the mission, goals, and objectives of the College and the demographics of the current student body and staff of the College; knowledge of local community and service area; ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently; knowledge and skill in identifying problems, analyzing data, and making recommendations; high level of emotional intelligence and energy; excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to develop collaborative relationships with students, faculty, administration, and internal and external constituencies; ability to manage and adapt to change, make difficult decisions, encourage conflict resolution, and assure employee and department accountability; and strong management skills.Additional Information:
In addition, the successful candidate preferably will have a Master's Degree in a related area; five (5) years of direct experience in a Community College Admissions office; three (3) years of New York State higher education experience; and experience working in a unionized environment.Application Instructions:
