Job Description
Come join Maximus as the Director of Special Projects playing a critical leadership role in supporting the Chief of Staff and the executive team deliver the enterprise strategy. The Director of Special Projects acts as a trusted advisor, problem solver, and liaison, helping to achieve the organization's vision and strategic objectives. Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting corporate strategy and delivering enterprise initiatives.
- Experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, and/or operations management.
- Public sector consulting experience is preferred.
- Analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience in presenting to executive-level audience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The Director of Special Projects reports directly to the Chief of Staff and works closely with executive leadership. Some travel and after-hours work will be required, depending on organizational needs. Traveling to the corporate headquarters to Tysons, VA may be required every other week.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring organizational strategies and priorities. Oversee cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with the executive team's objectives. Identify process improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.Special Projects:
Lead or participate in special initiatives as assigned by the Chief of Staff.- Drives decisive execution of enterprise level priorities by cutting through ambiguity, removing barriers, and ensuring strategic initiatives move forward with urgency, clarity, and measurable impact.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as a liaison between the executive office and internal/external stakeholders. Facilitate clear communication and build positive relationships across the organization.Operational Oversight:
Manage day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Chief of Staff. Support the Chief of Staff in decision-making, agenda setting, and materials preparation for executive and Board of Directors' meetings.- Excellent judgment, problem solving skills, emotional intelligence and intuition regarding interpersonal interactions, and meticulous attention to detail are a must
- Strong business acumen and prior experience in a high-paced corporate environment
- Expert-level analytical skills and experience with leading, executing, and synthesizing complex research, analysis, and project initiatives
- Ability to work independently and make independent judgment on assigned duties
- Excellent relationship skills and the ability to get things done in a collaborative environment
- Demonstrated ability to successfully execute multiple complex tasks simultaneously
