Job Description
SUMMARY:
This role leads a team of professional buyers to achieve organizational goals, which include ensuring cost-effective transactions by supply chain with exceptional service levels. The Director is responsible for the organizations tactical purchasing operations, including the procurement of supplies, processing of requisitions and purchase orders, procurement of equipment and services as determined by Strategic Sourcing or customers, including order acknowledgment and confirmations, expediting, troubleshooting, back orders, recalls, returns and collection of credits. This individual will manage supply issues that impact patients, such as physician preference items, supply chain service quality, product availability, emergency and disaster response management, recalls, hazardous waste and end of life issues for items. The Director will manage a team of professional buyers, coaching and training them to work as a team with the Strategic Sourcing and VAC groups to deliver supplies and services within expectations and with as few interrupting issues as possible, striving for a high percentage of perfect transactions that flow through the ERP system with no issues.EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible healthcare experience in supply chain services. Minimum 2 years of previous supervisory experience.SPECIAL SKILLS
Experienced in contract negotiation principles and techniques, cost containment and expense management. Strong communication/presentation skills. Excellent leadership skills to support organizational values and vision, while teaching, training and providing motivation, enthusiasm and leadership for the Buyer team. Highly skilled in data collection, data analysis and project management using computer software. Lawson/INFOR experience is preferred. Experience with spreadsheet & database extraction of accounting and purchasing transactional data.OTHER:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with medical staff and other clinicians. Demonstrated experience in change management, development and execution of communication plans, problem-solving and team development.LICENSE/CERT

CPM (Certified Purchasing Management), CSPM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) from ISM (Institute for Supply Management)EDUCATION
