Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
: The Director/Park Operations is a senior management position and a direct report to the CEO and COO . This position is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of all parks within our system, which currently numbers 4, with further expansions planned. This role will be the implementation of the corporate SOPs as well as the directives of the CEO and COO. This position works directly with each Park Director, ensuring that they are fulfilling their respective roles, and assisting as needed by providing guidance in a supportive capacity. The function of this role is twofold: to provide guidance to our existing parks to ensure daily quality for guests and staff, and second, to provide the ability for us to expand methodically using standardized SOPs and training. We plan on solidifying our status as the largest privately operated conservation-driven animal park company in the US. Much of this job will be accomplished at one of the corporate office sites, and not necessarily on-site at the parks. This job requires a person who can set and achieve goals without being prompted. Travel to the parks will be on a quarterly, or an as-needed, basis. There will be more travel in the beginning to become familiar with each facility and staff. We are looking for a top candidate to fill this new position to foment expansion. We expect exceptional drive, ethics, and to be professional in demeanor and appearance. We would expect the right candidate to be driven to achieve excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess, compile, edit, update and distribute the company SOPs/Guidelines.
  • Streamline all Operation SOPs and bring all parks into compliance.
  • Oversight of each Park's operations to ensure each facility complies with corporate vision
  • Ensure all the Parks' policies are correctly interpreted and followed by all staff.
  • Provide CEO/COO with monthly reports (or more frequent if required) of each facility which will complement the financial monthly reports from Corporate Accounting department.
  • Along with Park Directors, ensure: o Parks maintain all standards required to maintain national accreditation.
o Staffing models are appropriate and staffing needs are met. o Budgets are followed. o Review and assess monthly reports from parks. o S taff amenities and workplace environment is conducive to staff retention o A safe workplace, following all company, federal, state and local regulations is maintained
  • Remain up-to-date with industry best practices and trends.
  • Represent the park in a professional manner at conferences, industry meetings and in general.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
  • 10+ years of proven experience in a recognized zoo and/or major attractions facility, with ever-increasing advancement managing and understanding park operations.
  • 10+ years of quantifiable experience in another business with emphasis on operations may be substituted for park experience, after review and consideration.
  • BS or MBA (preferred) with an emphasis on operations and/or management.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to ensure smooth park operations at the management level.
  • A passion for growth with the ability to motivate staff along with the knowledge to plan for future expansions
  • Ability to coordinate, read, review and comprehend all monthly reports
  • A calm, professional and experienced demeanor when handling adversity, both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in various Microsoft Office products to produce high quality reports.
  • Ability to travel between parks as necessary and required.
  • Optimum health to ensure the ability to actively traverse parks while fulfilling duties and travel between parks on a regular basis.
  • Possess a strategic focus with an eye for detail and efficiency.
  • Possess a proven knowledge of industry practices and policies.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who requires very limited direction.
