Job Description
The Division Manager - Hauling & Collections is responsible for leading and managing all collection operations for commercial, industrial, and residential customers across an assigned region. This includes container delivery, pick-up, and route optimization. The role oversees a team that may include Operations Managers, Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers, and Administrative staff. Working closely with the General Manager and other division leaders, the Division Manager executes local strategies that align with company goals—driving operational excellence, safety, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage daily hauling and collection operations, including hiring, training, performance management, and safety compliance. Develop and implement short- and long-term operational goals, performance metrics, and standard operating procedures. Partner with leadership on budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimization while monitoring expenses and vendor contracts. Champion and enforce all safety programs and initiatives; conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance and promote a safe workplace culture. Optimize route efficiency across commercial, roll-off, and residential services while meeting productivity and quality standards. Ensure compliance with all environmental, regulatory, and company operating standards. Maintain strong relationships with customers, community leaders, and local/state/federal agencies. Drive team engagement, accountability, and professional development to build a high-performance culture. Stay informed of industry trends, legislation, and best practices impacting solid waste operations. Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage large, diverse teams. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills. Ability to lead change, improve processes, and achieve measurable results. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. High level of integrity and commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. Ability to manage resources effectively and plan for future business needs.QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of supervisory or management experience.Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field; waste industry experience; valid Class A orB CDL. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office-based with frequent field visits; exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Fast-paced environment with time-sensitive goals and deadlines.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 10 lbs. regularly; frequent walking, standing, and reaching.DISCLAIMER
