Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensed Registered Nurse, Corrections Nurse II. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of medical personnel in a correctional setting. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply! Essential Functions Provides direct patient care and primary nursing care services. Monitors and reviews the various functions carried out by the lower level nurses. Reviews record keeping functions. Serves as lead worker to lower-level nurses. Maintains adequate supply and security of medical equipment. Reviews medical records and completes health summary forms for individual in custody transfers. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires (A) graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience. OR (B) a bachelor's degree in nursing and two (2) years of professional experience. OR (C) a master's degree in nursing. Requires licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least two (2) years of nursing experience in a correctional setting. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in the mental health. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience problem solving in a nursing position. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working on an interdisciplinary team. Prefers at least two (2) years of working experience in a leadership role. Conditions of Employment Requires current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification. Requires the ability to pass theIDOC/IDJJ
background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
