Dock Hand / Travel Lift Operator Trainee 7200 Bay Front Road, Sparrows Point, MD 21219 $16 an hour - Part-time $16 an hour - Part-time Old Bay Marina is a small family-owned marina looking for a hardworking, dependable person to join our team as a Part-Time Dock Hand / Travel Lift Operator Trainee. This is a hands-on outdoor position with the opportunity to learn marina operations, boat handling, and eventually train to assist with travel lift operations used for hauling and launching boats. We are not a corporate marina. Everyone works together here, and no two days are the same. This marina operates more like a farm than an office, you need to be comfortable working outside, staying busy, solving problems, and getting your hands dirty. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, likes physical work, wants to learn hands-on skills, and has an interest in boats or the marina industry. What You'll Be Doing Assisting with haul-outs and boat launches Learning marina equipment and travel lift operations Helping customers at the docks and around the property Cleaning bathrooms and marina facilities Mowing grass and helping maintain the property General marina maintenance and upkeep Moving equipment and materials around the yard Assisting mechanics and contractors when needed Helping keep the marina clean, organized, and running smoothly Assisting with storm preparation and seasonal projects On slower days, you will be given projects around the marina to help improve and maintain the property. What We're Looking For Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Reliable and punctual Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, and rain Able to perform physical labor and lift heavy materials Positive attitude and team-player mentality Comfortable around boats, equipment, and water Mechanically minded is a plus Comfortable getting your hands dirty and staying active throughout the day Preferred (But Not Required) Marina, dock, landscaping, construction, towing, or heavy equipment experience Boating knowledge Interest in the marina or marine industry Important This is not a desk job. Some days are busy and fast-paced. Other days are slower and involve working on maintenance projects, cleaning, organizing, mowing, and helping improve the marina. We are looking for someone dependable who enjoys working outside and takes pride in helping maintain a waterfront property.
