Job Description

ROLE :
The Documentation Support Coordinator is responsible for requesting and the preliminary review of medical record documentation to support compliance audits, organizational risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring activities. The Documentation Support Coordinator is also responsible for completing information gathering for internal risk management and audit processes.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Initiate, send, and appropriately manage outbound requests for patient medical record requests to support compliance audits, organizational risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring activities. Responsible for obtaining supporting documentation to demonstrate performance of medically necessary services. Assist with information gathering and analysis for internal risk management and audit processes. Frequently assists with special compliance assignments and projects. Keeps supervisor advised of compliance concerns which may lead to untimely or inaccurate completion of compliance audits, organizational risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring activities. Address problems as they occur. Assists Supervisor of Regulatory Audits with other areas of responsibility as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Flexible, positive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Demonstrates initiative, ability to work independently. Able to prioritize, organize, trouble-shoot, and problem solve. Must have ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma required, college degree preferred. Demonstrates a sound understanding of customer service principles and practices. Experience in medical terminology and documentation review is preferred. Experience with healthcare billing system solutions and Microsoft Office preferred.
