POSITION SUMMARY
The Donor Communications Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all donor-facing communications are timely, coordinated, and aligned with the Institute for Survivor Care's broader messaging and development strategy. This role is responsible for executing donor communications across multiple channels—including direct mail, email, and selected donor touchpoints—while ensuring strong internal coordination so efforts are not siloed or duplicated. This position is designed to strengthen consistency, clarity, and effectiveness in donor communications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Communications:
Coordinate and execute all donor-facing communications, including direct mail appeals, acknowledgements, newsletters, impact reports, and campaign messaging. Keep donor emails current. Support Director of Communication in translating program outcomes into clear, compelling stories that highlight impact and transformation.
Donor Engagement:
Support staff in executing donor touchpoints, impact updates, and special acknowledgements or donor-specific outreach. Donor Database Management Manage donor tracking in the CRM, including list management and communication tracking. Enhance donor information for more accurate outreach. Provide weekly reports to directors. Ensure accuracy of donor communication preferences and outreach records.
Manage donation processing:
Process incoming donations, contact donors to update credit card information, administer year-end giving statement, and manage thank-you process. Events & Donor Experience Support donor-related events through communications, materials, and follow-up. Identify and provide input into collateral that best meets the needs or different donor segments and donor outreach. Digital & Social Media Work with Communications Manager to develop donor-focused social media content that highlights impact and engagement opportunities. Collaborate with Communications Manager to create donor messaging across digital channels with broader marketing efforts. Church & Local Engagement Serve as a communications liaison to churches and local partners. Provide messaging, updates, and materials to support external engagement and outreach. Collaboration & Brand Alignment Partner with development, programs, and communications teams to ensure aligned messaging and timing. Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and brand across all donor communications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree or equivalent experience; bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in database management. Experience with CRM platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Comfortable working collaboratively across teams.
SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS
This position is a full-time in person salaried position based on an average of 40 hours/week. This position works out of the organization's headquarters in the Louisville, KY area. The Institute upholds a 90-day probationary period on new hires. Employees are granted 8 company-selected holidays and 10 days/year of paid leave, to be used as desired, with supervisor's pre-approval. Employee must furnish his/her own computing and communications technology. Employee has option of participating in employee health insurance and/or 401k program.
