Job Description

Pay Range:
$17.87 - $22.00/hr
Schedule:
Sundays from 8AM - 4:30PM (8 hrs/week) to startSatisfactory completion of post-employment testing is required to maintain employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Adult Skills Center (TASC) provides innovative and proactive services that empower individuals with diverse intellectual, developmental, and mental health needs to achieve their highest level of Independence and realize their greatest potential. The Supported Employment Direct Support Specialist ensures assistance is provided as needed for program operations and clients. Provide job coaching for newly hired clients in the community; assist with adjusting/acclimating and learning new job. Work with case managers and job developers to identify challenges and ensure best outcomes for clients. Participate in new hire orientation for clients offered employment in community.

Primary duties:

Employment Orients the client to the work settingModels all job duties and works alongside client in each employment settingAdheres to the dress code, company policies, and culture on the client employer (tattoos, hair color, jewelry etc.)Develops and follows a checklist that identifies all job duties that must be completed during the workdayCompletes daily care notes and/or data sheetsTrains the client to complete their assigned job duties to employer expectationsTeaches the client appropriate workplace behaviorAssists the client in developing professional relationships with co-workersProvides support, instruction, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and advocacy to ensure job successAssists the client in developing goals for the Individual Habilitation Services Plan (IHSP)Assists the client in achieving the goals identified on their IHSPParticipates in the clients IPP meetingParticipates in facilitating employment classes for clients
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assignedPerform other off-site duties as assignedParticipate in weekly meetings, trainings, etc. as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Required to complete 40-hour ACRE training and obtain certification within six months of hireExperience working with persons with developmental disabilities desirable. Requires initiative, creativity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic computer skills necessaryMust be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPRMust have current California Drivers license/Insurance and clean DMVMust receive criminal record clearance through the DOJMust have reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, a valid California driver license and driving record acceptable to TASC insurance providerAfter hours and open availability requiredAbility to read, write and interpret documents in EnglishAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions in EnglishMaintain all certifications up to date
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive company and/or personal vehicle for work, including transporting clients to and from work and/or appointments as needed, maintain valid drivers license and car insurance, if required to drive for position. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
