Duct Mechanic

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Duct Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, fabricating, and repairing HVAC ductwork systems in commercial buildings. You will be able to interpret blueprints to measure, cut, and hang sheet metal or flexible ducts, seal joints for efficiency, and install air handlers, registers, and fans, ensuring proper airflow and compliance with building codes. Core Responsibilities Hang and connect sheet metal, fiberglass, and flexible ductwork in commercial and industrial settings according to schematics, HVAC design plans, and industry standards. Apply duct sealant, mastic, and insulation to prevent air leaks and energy loss. Read and interpret construction documents and blueprints to plan system layouts. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with duct systems, utilizing tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment . Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC system diagrams to ensure precise installation. Conduct welding and mechanical repairs on duct components and related equipment to ensure durability and safety. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspection reports, repair logs, and compliance documentation. Operate vehicle safely to transport tools, materials, or equipment between job sites while adhering to all safety protocols. Experience and Qualifications 4+ years of experience in HVAC duct installation or sheet metal work. Proficiency in using tools like snips, riveters, drills, and bending equipment. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy materials. Valid driver's license, high school diploma, OSHA certification. Technical training in HVAC/Sheet Metal is a plus. Strong understanding of HVAC systems and air distribution. Work Environment This is a physically demanding job often involving working at heights (ladders/lifts) or in confined spaces like attics, crawl spaces, and ceiling plenums.
