Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Dyslexia/ELAR Teacher. This full-time position involves providing specialized instruction to students with dyslexia and supporting their literacy development in English Language Arts (ELAR). The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, implement evidence-based instructional strategies, and collaborate with parents and staff to ensure each student's success. Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to the needs of students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.
  • Utilize specialized teaching methodologies and interventions to support literacy development in reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
  • Provide professional development and support to other educators on best practices for teaching students with dyslexia.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters a love for reading and learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and developments in dyslexia education and literacy instruction. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in dyslexia intervention or a related area.
  • Experience working with students with dyslexia and/or other learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies for literacy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of current educational technology and tools to enhance instruction.
