Job Title:
Early Childhood Teacher•Preschool Reports to: Preschool Director and SES Administration Evaluated by: Preschool Director and/or SES Administration
Position Summary:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 3-5. The teacher plans and implements curriculum aligned with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, supports children's social-emotional growth, and maintains compliance with Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) licensing regulations and Colorado Shines quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and implement engaging instruction that aligns with the assigned preschool curriculum. Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff. Support children's cognitive, physical, emotional, language, and social development. Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive classroom environment. Observe and document children's development and progress. Conduct student assessments as required. Maintain accurate attendance, health, and classroom records. Follow all Colorado licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and SES policies. Use positive guidance and classroom management strategies. Participate in family conferences, parent communication, and school events. Collaborate with teaching staff and administration to support program goals. Participate in ongoing professional development according to SES policies and procedures, state childcare licensing rules, and UPK requirements. Provides daily supervision and direction to paraprofessional staff to support classroom instruction, routines, and student needs. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, special service providers, and families. Demonstrate an understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Follow accommodations set forth for all students with IEPs. Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, and/or
Training Required:
Candidates must meet Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) licensing requirements for an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualification. Acceptable qualifications may include one or more of the following: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential (ECPC)•Level III or above Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field Completion of qualifying college coursework in Early Childhood Education Verification of ECT qualification through Colorado Shines PDIS Experience working with young children (daycare, preschool, or similar setting) •Must apply for and acquire a CO Shines Early Childhood Credential within first 30 days of employment.
Physical Demands:
This position requires a combination of sitting (in short chairs and on the floor), standing, and walking throughout the day. The employee may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds. Frequent activities include sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching multiple levels (floor to tall cupboards), and simple grasping. The role requires constant ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively. Occasional activities include stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, and performing fine motor tasks.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a licensed early childhood education setting and requires adherence to all state health, safety, and supervision requirements.

160 Days / Nine-month position. Salary to be determined by the School Board of Education.
