Please email Position Summary The Director, Adult Literacy and ESOL Programs provides administrative leadership, curriculum oversight, and strategic direction for all adult literacy and ESOL initiatives at DePorres PLACE. This role is responsible for program design, curriculum development, compliance, data analysis, staff leadership, and community partnerships. The Director ensures programs are mission-aligned, educationally sound, compliant, and positioned for sustainability and growth.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy Planning Collaboratively establish the vision and strategic direction for adult literacy and ESOL programming. Develop annual goals, performance indicators, and program priorities aligned with organizational objectives. Lead program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts to ensure high-quality outcomes. Program Development and Curriculum Management Design, evaluate, and continuously improve adult literacy and ESOL curriculum. Ensure curriculum aligns with best practices, adult learning principles, and ESOL standards. Approve instructional materials, educational technology, and learning resources. Develop supplemental programs (such as digital literacy, citizenship, workforce readiness). Administrative and Compliance Leadership Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, funder, and organizational requirements. Oversee documentation, policies, procedures, and accreditation-related needs. Lead preparation of reports for leadership, funders, and Board review. Maintain accountability systems for program integrity and quality assurance. Data Analysis and Program Evaluation Establish performance metrics and evaluation frameworks. Analyze student outcomes, attendance, retention, and tutor effectiveness. Use data to inform program decisions, curriculum revisions, and strategic planning. Ensure accurate data collection systems are in place and functioning. Budget and Resource Management Monitor and manage program expenditures to ensure the responsible use of resources. Provide data, narratives, and programmatic insights to support the development of annual budgets and grant proposals. Oversee allocation of facilities, materials, technology, and staffing resources. Maintain accountability systems for program integrity and fiscal quality assurance. Staff and Volunteer, Managerial Leadership Supervise the Manager, and Coordinators Adult Literacy and ESOL Programs. Lead recruitment, training frameworks, and professional development strategies. Provide instructional leadership, coaching standards, and performance feedback. Foster a collaborative, mission-driven, and accountable team culture. Partnership and Community Engagement Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, libraries, schools, and literacy agencies. Represent DePorres PLACE at community meetings, coalitions, and professional events. Lead outreach strategies for student enrollment and volunteer recruitment. Collaborate with advancement and marketing teams on visibility and fundraising support. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of academic standards and best practices in curriculum and instruction for adult learners,basic literacy, and ESOL. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make evidence-based decisions for program enhancement. Excellent coaching and training skills and a proven ability to design and deliver effective professional development for volunteers. Skilled in building community partnerships and managing multiple priorities. Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms. A high level of professionalism, initiative, and a commitment to excellence, equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Education and Work Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Nonprofit Management, TESOL, or a related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in education, adult learning, or nonprofit programming. Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience is required (adult education/ESOL preferred). Demonstrated success in volunteer supervision and management, program evaluation, and budget management. Prior experience in curriculum development and instructional coaching is highly preferred. Must have excellent professional communication abilities. Must successfully pass Level II background check. Must be cleared through E-Verify with Homeland Security. Must complete and pass the Child Abuse Reporting Training Certificate issued by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).Ethical Conduct:

Work onsite on a schedule approved by the Chief Programs Officer, with flexibility for additional hours as needed. This may include evening and occasional weekend hours based on program needs. The position also requires working occasionally at the Center for Creative Education (CCE) building as part of program coordination and collaboration efforts. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in communicating effectively with adults and children.
