Summer 2026: Carpentry Instructor - Grant Funded Minuteman High School - 4.2 Lexington, MA Job Details Part-time | Seasonal $90 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Carpentry OSHA (regulatory compliance area) Blueprint specification interpretation Power tools for woodworking Construction plans Construction workplace safety regulations Full Job Description This position is a part-time daytime summer position within the Minuteman Technical Institute, with an anticipated start date of June 22, 2026, and an end date of August 20, 2026. Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays, 7:00 AM 2:00 PM. There will be no class during the week of July 13, 2026.This grant-funded position is a non-bargaining unit, exempt position, which is not covered under the Minuteman Collective Bargaining Agreement and is not eligible for benefits. Employment will be contingent upon sufficient enrollment in the CTI Summer Carpentry program.
Major Responsibilities:
Plan, implement and periodically update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks and industry-recognized credentials that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students seeking employment in the field. Actively work with local businesses and industries, and other industry experts for continuous program improvement. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of post-secondary students. Guide the learning process toward curriculum and establish objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to post-secondary students. Assess post-secondary students on a regular basis and provide progress reports. Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, performance, and the documentation needed to support industry-recognized credentials. Counsel with colleagues and post-secondary students on a regular basis. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing post-secondary student conduct. Assist the administration in implementing MTI (Minuteman Technical Institute) goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the MTI Program. Maintain the condition of facilities. Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Director of Expanded Access.
Qualifications:
Licensed or licensable as a Chapter 74 Instructor by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Carpentry preferred but not required. Must be familiar with all aspects of the Carpentry industry including: MA Carpentry Code, Blueprint Reading, OSHA and Hot Work, Hand and Power Tools. Incorporate valid Industry Recognized Credentials (IRC) into the program. Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years recent (within the past 7 years) experience in the field of Carpentry. OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred. Familiarity with Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Carpentry is required. Experience with student management information system software. Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required. Must pass a
CORI/SORI
screening and must provide proof of having submitted to fingerprinting per MA DESE guidelines.
Additional Requirements:
This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public, walking around the school, standing for periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items, reading documents, using a computer, listening and speaking, using office equipment, maintaining energy throughout the day, and handling stress effectively.
Terms of Employment:
Part-Time. Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays, 7:00 AM 2:00 PM.
Effective Dates of Employment:
Anticipated start date of June 22, 2026, and an end date of August 20, 2026. There will be no class during the week of July 13, 2026.

Director of Expanded Access.
Compensation:
Hourly rate: $90.00 for a total of 213 hours, which includes 208 program hours and 5 hours of curriculum development.
