Special Services Building / Offsite in Paw Paw 701 South Paw Paw Street Lawrence, MI 49064 Job Goal(s): The primary job goal of the Instructor for Adult Education/ESL is to conduct an appropriate level of instruction for adult participants in the area of English as a Second Language (ESL).
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Education; TESOL endorsement desired
Certification:
Current and Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Work Experience:
Experience with basic literacy instruction Experience in distance learning technology
Preferred:
Experience working with adult learners
Desired Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of instructional methods in ESL and/or Literacy Knowledge of content area Knowledge of contextualized instruction Knowledge of instructional delivery through distance learning Knowledge of basic computer skills Bilingual in English and Spanish Ability to make decisions concerning participant instruction Knowledge of CASAS assessment tools Basic knowledge of Federal and State mandated core indicators and performance accountability measures
Essential Job Functions:
Administer pre-tests and prescribe an educational plan to meet identified needs. Assist participants in meeting short and long-range goals. Provide participants with a course overview for each level of instruction. Ensure participants are counted in attendance Provide instruction which includes skills that have real-life applications. Use a variety of teaching techniques and methodologies to ensure all participants are reached. Adapt teaching style and/or lesson plans to suit participant's learning style preferences. Use technology to expand participants' skills in computer literacy, keyboarding and the use of the internet. Monitor the growth of virtual participants Administer post-tests to evaluate participants' gains. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator Regular and reliable, in person attendance. Valid driver's license required.
Terms of Employment:
As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
