Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree from an approved institution. 2. Knowledge of subject matter and ability to adapt teaching style to address the needs of all learners. 3. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. 4. Must maintain confidentiality. 5. Effective human relations and communication skills. 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO
Director, Adult Education and Literacy
JOB GOAL
To provide instruction in academic areas and assist students in preparing to take the 4 GED sub-tests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Assess students on a regular basis to determine progress towards objectives and goals to verify learning. 2. Demonstrate a knowledge of subject matter. 3. Use a variety of teaching materials and strategies, including technology. 4. Use instructional time effectively. 5. Make regular contact with each student during class and maintain communication through approved channels outside of school. 6. Demonstrate ability to motivate students and help them reach their goals. 7. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and positively with students. 8. Listen and actively respond to learners' needs and goals. 9. Work positively and non-judgmentally with students of all cultures and social backgrounds. 10. Provide students with specific evaluative feedback. 11. Set high expectations for all students. 12. Conduct a well-organized classroom that is conducive to learning. 13. Demonstrate effective classroom control and manage student behavior in a positive and constructive manner. 14. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with both students and staff. 15. Attend certification workshops and other professional activities as required. 16. Maintain an ongoing and active recruitment and retention plan. 17. Keep all required state and local records up to date. 18. Adhere to good safety practices. 19. Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies. 20. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. 21. Other duties as required or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain AEL Certification within the first three months of hiring date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

Typical office/school environment.

Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Administrator Evaluation process.
