Bilingual Spanish and English Adult Basic Education Full-Time Instructor I Austin, TX Job Details Full-time $45,000 a year 15 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Bilingual School experience Spanish English Bilingual teaching experience Algebra English Bachelor of Arts Teaching Full Job Description Purpose of Position The Bilingual Spanish and English Adult Basic Education Full-Time Instructor I instructs and manages adult students in online and in-person classrooms, located at various partner sites within the Greater Austin community. Instructors are responsible for guiding students through the curricula, so that students will acquire the skills necessary to compete in a job market that requires a High School Equivalency (HSE). This position will instruct weekly classes in both Spanish and English, deliver an evidence‐based curriculum at various partner sites, create and implement strategies to ensure client success, and participate in efforts to continue program development, including curriculum design, program outreach, registration and intake, pre and post-testing, client retention, and partner engagement. This position will also require professional development opportunities and participation in various team and organization meetings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Program Coordination:
Must be bilingual in Spanish and English, and have the ability to teach to GED curricula in the subject areas of Reading and Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math in both Spanish and English. Coordinates client intake, progress testing, and outtake processes (in coordination with ABE staff team and Program Leadership). Maintains student files, documents, and performs data entry as necessary per grant and funding guidelines. Coordinates outreach efforts to students on a weekly basis to encourage engagement and participation in the program. Monitors student attendance and sends out attendance notices to students when needed. Assists in organizing student events. Coordinates classroom and assists with ordering program supplies, including testing materials.
Instructor Duties:
Coordinates client intakes in an active and engaging manner and assists with student motivation. Maintains copies of curriculum, updates curriculum under advisement of program Leadership, utilizes curriculum to meet individual student needs. Keeps track of individual student progress for weekly staff meetings. Conducts group General Education Development (GED) subject classes in both Spanish and English on a term basis. Classes occur each day, Monday-Thursday, on a pre-determined schedule. Tutors students in small groups in-person and via Zoom in math, science, social studies, and language arts.
Community Engagement:
Coordinates client intake and community events to recruit for Adult Education programs. Builds and maintains relationships with partner locations and other classroom sites. Requirement to complete 12 hours of continuing education/professional development each fiscal year.
Organizational Tasks:
Represents the organization based on its mission, vision, and values. Attends organization's staff meetings, events, and other Literacy Coalition activities. Supports the organization in developing and implementing a strategic plan, including setting objectives, meeting key results, and defining initiatives. Assists in creating four social media posts per month related to Adult Education to be posted to Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Excellent communication and social skills Effective interpersonal and client-serving skills Experience working with hard-to-serve or adult populations Sensitivity towards different social groups Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Windows (GUI), Word, and Excel Proficient in the use of Salesforce or other databases.
