Qualifications:
Education/Certification Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in a directly related field Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge and application of effective ESL, GED, Distance Learning, and Workforce Transitions instructional strategies Proficient oral and written communication skills in English, with Spanish as a second language preferred Leadership abilities in organization, management, communication and interpersonal relations Experience in presenting information to staff and students Initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Windows and MS Office professional Competence in working with linguistically and culturally diverse constituencies Ability to travel to program sites throughout the district and the community Ability to deliver lessons to AEL students & Ability to work well with adults Experience 2 years of experience is preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide holistic, learner-centered instruction for adults Work with Program Director and staff to identify and provide or facilitate presentations of selected curricula, transition information, career and workforce programming and activities/resources needed by students at sitesImplement actions to recruit and retain students in order to maintain a daily attendance of 15 students (minimum)Administer, analyze and interpret ABE assessments to/for adult students while adhering strictly to directions and scoring procedures and providing appropriate testing conditions with minimum disruptionUtilize student assessment and classroom activities to monitor class performance to ensure state and federal performance target goals set by the grant for each educational functioning level are metMeet with students individually to advise on all areas related to transitions such as career research and planning, workforce training, internship placement, job readiness and employment search, college planning and admissions, and financial aid processesDevelop and submit monthly lesson plans in targeted subject areas utilizing the established Content Standards & Benchmarks format required by the Adult Education guidelines using various approval ABE curriculaKeep and assume the final responsibility for the true and accurate account of student records including student attendance, enrollment, assessment and goal reportingMaintain a working knowledge of all student filesMeet all timelines pertaining to grant and district reporting as requiredAttend a minimum of 21 clock hours of staff development annuallyMeet proficiency levels of required technology skills and incorporate technology as required by supervisorAdministers progress and assessment tests to students as neededProvides targeted instruction to students as needed in order to accommodate scheduling conflictsRegisters students and walk-in students, if class seats are availableAttend testing and instructional staff development offerings as required by Program ManagerPerforms other duties as requiredTroubleshoot computer and technology issues that may ariseTreat students, co-workers, supervisors and visitors with dignity and respectPerform all other tasks and duties as assigned Safety Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
