Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and to develop in each student an understanding of the skills necessary for a specific occupation. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent full-time wage-earning experience required for certification Valid Trade and Industrial Education teaching certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned OR Eligible for a District Teaching Permit with related training and work experience OR Valid Texas Family and Consumer Science - Composite or Hospitality, Nutrition and Food Sciences teaching certificate Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Proficient in the effective use of tools and technology used in the occupational field Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Technology skills as related to classroom presentation and record-keeping Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms Ability to support students with computer set-up, navigation, and technology issues Work Conditions Tools/Equipment Used :

Program Responsibilities Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned. Develop outlets for internships and apprenticeships. Develop and maintain a network of advisors to help keep the curriculum fresh and relevant, and to stay current in industry trends. Take an active role in recruitment of new students in the program. Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and reflect accommodations for differences in individual students. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that meet the needs of students. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal methods. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. Classroom Management and Organization Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, appropriate for high school students, and where possible simulates a workplace site in the career. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in the selection of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment. Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other documents related to local, state, and federal requirements. Communication Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, community members, and industry and higher education partners. Professional Growth and Development Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform such other tasks and accept other responsibilities as may be assigned.
