JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Archives & Special Collections department at WPI's Gordon Library is seeking a Digital Archives Intern to support an ongoing digital transcription project. The intern will work directly with the Head of Archives & Special Collections to transcribe and digitally preserve a historical manuscript by Levi L. Conant, a prominent WPI mathematics professor from the late 1890s. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in archival practice, digital preservation, and exhibit curation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities Transcribe Levi L. Conant's Lectures on Differential Equations into LaTeX using the Overleaf application Plan and build a digital exhibit featuring the digitized manuscript and LaTeX transcription using the Spotlight application Plan an accompanying physical exhibit (sized to fit a rolling exhibit case) to engage the WPI community with the project Qualifications Undergraduate student planning to study archives, or a graduate student currently studying archives Foundational knowledge of archival principles Comfort with or interest in learning LaTeX and Overleaf Strong attention to detail and self-direction
Hourly Rate:
$17.50/hour
