Position Title:
Pension Finance & Data Integrity, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)
Hourly Rate:
$19.00 (Undergraduate) All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
The MaBSTOA Pension Finance Unit supports the financial operations and integrity of the MaBSTOA Pension Plan by ensuring accurate processing, reconciliation, and historical validation of participant contribution records.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in locating, reviewing, and organizing historical pension records, including legacy reports, payment vouchers, and tax documents. Digitize physical and legacy documents and convert them into standardized PDF formats for long-term storage. Accurately index participant-specific documents into Oracle UCM using appropriate metadata (e.g., EmplID, name, document type). Develop and maintain a centralized index of pension-related documents to support efficient retrieval and audit readiness. Support research of participant account activity by reviewing historical records to identify contribution refunds, account balances, and key financial events. Analyze legacy pension reports to identify patterns such as when participants drop off reporting cycles or indicators of prior refund activity. Assist in converting legacy payroll and contribution data into usable formats and support preparation of interest calculations for Additional Member Contributions (AMC). Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance document management, data accessibility, and overall workflow efficiency.
PROJECTS
Development of a
Centralized Pension Document Index:
Create and maintain a structured, searchable master index of historical pension documents (e.g., 1099-Rs, weekly pension reports, refund records) to significantly improve document retrieval time and support audit readiness.
Historical Records Digitization and UCM Integration:
Lead the digitization and standardized organization of legacy and physical pension records, including proper indexing in Oracle UCM to ensure long-term accessibility and traceability of participant-specific and system-wide documents.
Legacy Data Conversion and Interest Calculation Support:
Assist in transforming legacy payroll and contribution data into usable formats to support accurate calculation of interest on Additional Member Contributions (AMC), including development of templates or tools to streamline and standardize the calculation process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must. The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Interest in financial systems, data management, or public sector operations. Ability to review and interpret data across multiple sources.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA. Major(s)
Preferred:
Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or related field.
