Part-Time Department Summary LACM's Composing for Visual Media program is highly respected among commercial music schools throughout the United States and the world. Its focus on artistic exploration, its rigorous curriculum and its close connection with the Los Angeles music industry enables students to prepare for successful careers in music upon graduation. Our faculty members are dedicated teachers as well as nationally and internationally known composers and performers. They've earned Grammy Awards, toured internationally, conducted seminars throughout the world and written music education textbooks. Position Summary The CVM Department seeks a qualified individual to serve as Chair of the Department. We seek to fill the position by October 5, 2026 / Fall 2026 quarter. The Department Chair is responsible for supervising academic matters within the department, which includes curriculum development, faculty support and classroom teaching effectiveness, student advisement, new student application reviews, special event coordination, and general supervision of the academic affairs in the department. All instruction will take place on the LACM Pasadena campus.

Academic Leadership:
Faculty Support:
faculty support in day-to-day teaching responsibilities. Assist in faculty recruitment and hiring and faculty performance evaluations.
Curriculum Development:
articulate program-related goals and supervise department curriculum. Maintain an awareness of innovation and growth in education and the music industry. Plan and propose curriculum changes that benefit the department and promote progress.
Student Affairs:
Advise students on academic matters and general support.
Teaching:
Maintain an active role in the classroom by teaching at least one course per quarter. Representing the
Department:
Represent the department within the institution on committees, organizations and at school events and within the community.
Promotion:
Work with operations, admissions and marketing to support and promote the department. Minimum Qualifications Academic qualifications include a Master's Degree, preferred, in music or education. Four years experience in teaching music related courses at the undergraduate level. Two years experience in a supervisory position in higher education or relevant industry. Professional music industry experience is a plus. Legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without employment visa sponsorship.
