Groton Hill Music Center, 122 Old Ayer Road, Groton, MA, 01450 Groton Hill Music Center is the region's premier nonprofit center for outstanding music education, professional performances, andmunity engagement programs. Our Music School offers lessons in 30+ instruments and voice for all ages in all musical styles with a faculty of 90+ professional teaching artists.
This role involves:
Leading a monthly bluegrass jamming class for adults (5:45-6:45pm), followed by hosting a beginner- to intermediate-level bluegrass jam for adults (7-9pm), on the second Tuesday of every month; and Weekly private guitar, mandolin, and/or banjo lessons on a different day (pending instructor and studio availability); and Weekly group class that introduces adult guitarists to playing in the bluegrass style
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
All of our faculty members are entrusted with developing students of all ages and ability levels. The role has considerable room for growth by way of building ensembles, classes, and a culture of excitement around bluegrass pedagogy and performance at Groton Hill Music School. The ability to inspire and instruct students while demonstrating strong technique is required. Groton Hill Music School faculty members are responsible for: 1) inspiring and sharing their love of music with their students; 2) setting a high bar for students' levels of technical skill and musicality; and 3) clearlymunicating expectations and working toward d goals. Groton Hill offers many ancillary benefits to our faculty members, including a variety of paid professional performance opportunities and funding for professional development (by application). Regular weekly teaching throughout the school year is required as is attendance at an annual fall faculty meeting, and thepletion of occasional clerical tasks. Timeliness and reliability, as well as strongmunication practices with both students/families and school staff, are essential.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates should have a degree in music and a minimum of three years of teaching experience. The ability to model and teach proper technique, and to integrate elements of music theory into one's lessons, are essential.
