Five Towns College, Dix Hills, New York Founded in1972, Five Towns College is a private, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education. The College serves the cause of music,media, and the performing arts. Additional areas of emphasis in teacher education, business, and the liberal arts and sciences are stronglyaligned with the College's overarching relationship with the arts and communication. Located on a beautiful 40-acre campus in DixHills, the geographic heart of Long Island, New York, the College is a creative center for learning, which attracts artists and scholarsfrom around the world who seek to be enriched by the unique educational experiences it offers. Five Towns College offers associate,bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs in eight major areas of study. The most popular degree programs include music, film/video,theatre arts, business management, and mass communication. Programs of study begin twice each year in the fall and spring following atraditional academic semester calendar. Summer, winter, evening, and part-time learning opportunities are also offered. The College deliversclasses in traditional, hybrid and blended formats. The College holds an Absolute Charter granted by the New York State Board ofRegents, and its programs of study are registered with the New York State Education Department. Five Towns College is institutionallyaccredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The College also holds programmatic accreditation from the NationalAssociation of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Its Business Division is a candidate foraccreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Approximately 750 students enroll at the Collegeeach year, with about 200 residing on-campus in the Five Towns College Living/Learning Center. Job Description :
Five Towns College, a leader inhigher education is seeking passionate, experienced, and innovative instructors to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate/s willbring a rich blend of practical industry experience in their respective field and academic insight to foster an inclusive and supportivelearning environment for a diverse student body. Faculty are especially needed for teaching set design with the opportunity to design setsfor our mainstage shows.
Compensation :
Adjunct/$3450 per 3- credit course
Key Responsibilities:
Adjunct/teach up to 9 credits per semester. Develop and update course overviews, lesson plans, and instructional materials. Perform administrative tasks utilizing the college's learning management system (LMS) related to course management and submittinggrades, using the student information system (SIS), and participating in departmental faculty meetings. Stay current withindustry trends and technologies in specific areas of expertise, integrating them into the curriculum. Participate in monthlyfaculty meetings
Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree (DMA) and related professional experience. A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Ability to integrate technology into teaching andlearning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success. Ability to workcollaboratively in a diverse, dynamic academic environment. Experience in teaching applied lessons in all instrumentation andvoice ranges. Expert in sight singing, ear training, music theory, keyboard skills, jazz harmony, music history, improvisation. If possible, experience teaching music in a public school or private school setting.
