Theatre Department Location :
Five Towns College, Dix Hills, New York Foundedin 1972, Five Towns College is a private, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education. The College serves the cause ofmusic, media, and the performing arts. Additional areas of emphasis in teacher education, business, and the liberal arts and sciences arestrongly aligned with the College's overarching relationship with the arts and communication. Located on a beautiful 40-acre campusin Dix Hills, the geographic heart of Long Island, New York, the College is a creative center for learning, which attracts artists andscholars from around the world who seek to be enriched by the unique educational experiences it offers. Five Towns College offersassociate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs in eight major areas of study. The most popular degree programs include music,film/video, theatre arts, business management, and mass communication. Programs of study begin twice each year in the fall and springfollowing a traditional academic semester calendar. Summer, winter, evening, and part-time learning opportunities are also offered. TheCollege delivers classes in traditional, hybrid and blended formats. The College holds an Absolute Charter granted by the New YorkState Board of Regents, and its programs of study are registered with the New York State Education Department. Five Towns College isinstitutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The College also holds programmatic accreditationfrom the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Its Business Division isa candidate for accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Approximately 750 students enroll atthe College each year, with about 200 residing on-campus in the Five Towns College Living/Learning Center. Job Description :
Five Towns College, aleader in higher education is seeking passionate, experienced, and innovative instructors to join our Music Department. The idealcandidate/s will bring a rich blend of practical industry experience in their respective field and academic insight to foster an inclusiveand supportive learning environment for a diverse student body. Faculty are especially needed for teaching set design with the opportunityto design sets for our mainstage shows.
Compensation :
Adjunct/$3450 per 3- credit course
Key Responsibilities:
Adjunct/teach up to 9 credits per semester. Develop and update course overviews, lesson plans, and instructionalmaterials. Perform administrative tasks utilizing the college's learning management system (LMS) related to course management andsubmitting grades, using the student information system (SIS), and participating in departmental faculty meetings. Stay currentwith industry trends and technologies in specific areas of expertise, integrating them into the curriculum. Participate inmonthly faculty meetings
Qualifications:
Master's (MFA) degree in related area with equivalentprofessional experience. A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Strong knowledgeof both musical and straight play productions as well as current industry practices. Ability to integrate technology intoteaching and learning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success. Abilityto work collaboratively in a diverse, dynamic academic environment. Experience in teaching applied lessons, specifically invoice. Expert in acting, directing, stage combat, stage management, voice and diction, musical theatre, accents and dialects,stagecraft, lighting design, set design, costume design, ballet, jazz, tap, modern dance, theatrical dance, hip hop, improvisation, theatrehistory, dramaturgy. If possible, experience teaching music in a public school or private school setting.
