Sunderman Cons. of Music Job Summary The Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Applied Voice beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach weekly private applied lessons (13 lessons per semester plus participation in end-of-semester juries and assessments) and periodic studio classes to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in music, as well as to students majoring in other disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with pedagogical expertise in both classical and music theater approaches and skills in piano accompanying. Opportunities may arise to teach other courses. Weekly teaching commitment for the 2026 - 2027 academic year is estimated to be 4-6 weekly contact hours during each 14-week semester with the potential for growth; actual hours will depend on enrollment. Part-time faculty are not assigned governance responsibilities, scholarship, supervision of independent studies, or advising duties, except for those which occur as part of course instruction, and are not eligible for benefits from the college. Gettysburg College is a highly selective liberal arts college located within 90 minutes of the Baltimore/ Washington metropolitan area. Established in 1832, the College has a rich history and is situated on a 220-acre campus with an enrollment of over 2,200 students. Qualifications Earned master's degree or equivalent professional experience, demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the college level, an understanding of the ideals and goals of an undergraduate liberal arts education and demonstrated success as a performer are required. Demonstrated potential to be effective in Conservatory recruitment and outreach are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate in their pedagogical practices how they cultivate a sense of belonging and inclusivity among students.
