This position includes both teaching and administrative responsibilities. In the area of teaching, we seek a colleague with expertise in general and choral music at the elementary and secondary levels. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in early childhood education, choral conducting/choral methods, and classroom piano. Coordination includes collaborating with colleagues to oversee the music education curriculum; advising music education students(beginning in the second year); assisting in recruiting prospective students; representing music education as a program within the Office of Teacher Education and Certification; representing the College in PMEA; managing the music education budget and equipment inventory; co-advising the College's chapter of CNAfME; coordinating field experiences; and placing and coordinating music student teachers. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in undergraduate teaching and a proven understanding of the ideals and goals of a liberal arts education. Successful experience teaching music at the elementary and/or secondary level in a United States public school setting is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate in their pedagogical practices how they cultivate a sense of belonging amongst students. A completed doctorate in a relevant field is preferred; a master's degree is required.
