Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Music and Performing Arts is now accepting applications for an Instructor of Clarinet position. The appointment begins with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month position that requires work to be performed in Hammond, Louisiana. Responsibilities Teach an applied clarinet studio, consisting of both music and non-music. majors, clarinet studio classes, and related courses (including pedagogy, single reed methods, and chamber music). Teach in a secondary area(s) of need. Recruit and mentor a talented study body, preparing graduates for successful careers in teaching, performance, and related fields. Collaborate with colleagues, in wind, orchestral, and chamber music ensembles to support a vibrant performance culture. Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession through committee participation, leadership, and community engagement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Music by hire date Clarinet performance experience Graduate study on clarinet Successful teaching experience Experience or potential as a college-level music instructor PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate or ABD in clarinet performance Record of successful student recruitment and studio development Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and community partners REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
