The University is located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 25,000 that is the home of the legendary King Ranch. For more information, click here. Position Overview Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory and Ear Training. This position involves teaching undergraduate lower-level music theory/ear-training courses as needed by the School of Music, with a teaching load of up to 15 credit hours. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching Teach classes according to assigned proficiency levels. Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, performance development, and professional goals. Collaborate closely with other music theory/ear-training professors, particularly in syllabus alignment and exam scheduling across multiple sections. Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies (as assigned). Perform additional instructional duties as assigned. Service Collaborate with faculty on departmental coordination (e.g., aligned syllabi and shared exam schedules). Maintain Student Success hours in support of student retention and academic success. Perform additional service duties as assigned, depending on departmental needs and availability. Other Duties The above represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Other duties may be assigned. Required Qualifications Education - Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of music from a regionally accredited institution or university required. Experience - Strong teaching ability in Ear-training and Music Theory Preferred Qualifications Doctorate Degree in Music Preferred Prior experience teaching music theory/ear-training classes at the collegiate level. Master's degree in music theory, or a related field (ABD or PhD preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interest in teaching music theory/ear-training to first and second-year music majors. Excellent organizational and record‑keeping skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to student success. Additional Information A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025.
