ART TEACHER
who has expertise in Traditional Art, Digital Art and Photography, with great classroom management skills for our high school campus (grades 9-12) in West Hills, California. This is a full-time position teaching four classes. The Successful Candidate Will teach High School students a rigorous art curriculum that empowers them to shape their world artistically, communicate effectively, and become culturally and socially engaged citizens. Will create a learning environment that allows students to flourish artistically, build knowledge of key principles, develop students' fundamental art skills, including but not limited to drawing, coloring, and painting technique, as well as fundamentals of digital design and introduction to photography. Has proven experience of teaching contemporary skills that allow students to flourish in a diverse range of academic, professional, and cultural contexts. Provide consistent high-quality feedback to students that is consistent with articulated course standards while also creating a safe and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and creativity. Knows how to apply the principles of backward design and implement lessons that enable all students to succeed and reach their full potential. Stays up-to-date with new art techniques, technologies, and trends to enhance teaching methods and student learning. Key Responsibilities Teaches four high school art classes. Collaborates with department members and course counterpart to design and teach a curriculum that builds students' toolkits of foundational principles and elements so that students can do the following: 1) create powerful work that is relevant to their identities and lived experiences, 2) appreciate art and artists, and 3) speak and think like artists able to critique their own and others' work.
