Job Description
Banning Lewis Prep Academy, serving grades 6-12, is one of two campuses (Banning Lewis Ranch Academy—K-5 is the other), is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in northeastern Colorado Springs. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive environment where students thrive academically and develop skills, character, and mindset to effectively engage with the world. Position Overview The Secondary Art and Theatre Teacher develops students' artistic expression through visual arts and/or theatre, emphasizing creativity, collaboration, and performance. They deliver engaging instruction in visual and performing arts, fostering creativity and expression while aligning with PBIS, CKH, and restorative practices. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Lesson Design Teach artistic techniques and concepts Plan and execute performances or exhibits Foster creative risk-taking and expression Manage materials, costumes, and stage equipment Assessment & Feedback Assess student performance using rubrics for artistic technique, creativity, and effort. Provide constructive feedback during rehearsals, critiques, and project work. Evaluate student growth through performances, portfolios, and presentations. Use assessment data to refine instruction and support artistic development. Classroom Culture & Management Establish clear expectations and routines. Establish structured and supportive environments. Reinforce PBIS expectations consistently. CKH & Relationship Building Build strong relationships that foster trust, engagement, and risk-taking in learning. Build strong relationships with students and families. Restorative Practices Address behavior through reflective and restorative approaches that support student growth. Collaboration Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to plan instruction and analyze student data. Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary connections and student success. Collaborate with general education teachers and service providers. Operational Support Support school events, supervision duties, and testing as needed. Commitment to School Climate and Culture Promotes inclusive practices ensuring all students have equitable access to learning. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Art, Theatre, or related field. Valid Colorado teaching license. Preferred Qualifications Experience directing productions or managing art programs. Salary Range:
$51,000 - $65,000 This position will be for the 2026-2027 school year.Pay:
