Position Overview We are seeking a creative, nurturing, and passionate Lower School Art Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners to explore art through hands-on, developmentally appropriate instruction while helping students build confidence, creativity, fine motor skills, artistic expression, and an appreciation for the visual arts. This role involves teaching Lower School students foundational art concepts, introducing a variety of artistic mediums, maintaining an engaging and organized classroom environment, and supporting school-wide art initiatives, displays, and student showcases. Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student Growth Teach engaging, age-appropriate art lessons for Lower School students. Introduce students to drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, mixed media, color theory, patterns, texture, and basic design concepts. Support student growth in creativity, confidence, technique, fine motor skills, and self-expression. Integrate art history, multicultural art, seasonal projects, creative exploration, and age-appropriate digital tools into instruction. Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels, learning styles, and developmental stages. Classroom Structure & Planning Develop engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support foundational art skills and creative thinking. Maintain a safe, organized, colorful, and inspiring art classroom. Manage art supplies, materials, and classroom resources responsibly. Foster a positive classroom culture with clear routines, age-appropriate expectations, kindness, creativity, and respect for each student's artistic process. Student, Parent & School Community Engagement Build trusting relationships with students and encourage them to take creative risks. Communicate professionally with parents and school leadership regarding student progress, classroom projects, art displays, and supply needs. Support student art displays, school-wide showcases, classroom collaborations, and special events that celebrate student creativity. Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the broader CFP student experience. Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred. Experience:
Prior experience teaching art to elementary or lower school students preferred. Skills:
Strong classroom management with young learners; proficiency in a variety of artistic mediums; ability to create engaging, hands-on lessons; strong communication and organizational skills. Mindset:
