Job Description
Department MOCA, Education-OPS Compensation $17.00 Hourly MOCA Jacksonville is looking for Summer Camp Art Instructors to implement and support MOCA's annual Summer Camp @MOCA. The instructor will lead sessions of camp at the Museum for children ages 6-14. Summer Camp offers weekly sessions from June 1 - 26 and July 6- 31, 2026. Instructors will attend a mandatory training session in May 2026.
Job responsibilities:
Report to the Camp Director for all guidance and oversight Develop and teach a creative and engaging curriculum for the provided MOCA camp topics Submit written lesson plans and supply lists within budget by the department's deadline Teach a weekly class to a group of 18 students ranging in age from 6 to 14 Ensure that activities are effectively and safely implemented following risk management protocol Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, patience, and flexibility Oversee behavioral plans and manage discipline issues with students Work with volunteers in camp classes to prep supplies and implement classroom management procedures Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude with staff, parents, and campers Set up, break down, and clean the classroom on a weekly basis Maintain health and safety guidelines in compliance with current museum protocols Other responsibilities as requested: Ensure the safety of all students with basic First Aid Training Ensure the safety of the museum collection by following all policies and procedures Cannot be a current UNF student for this position type. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a variety of art-making skills, including drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture; Experience in the arts; Experience with children with Special Needs; Currently has a Professional Educator Certificate, or is pursuing certification. Proficiency in a foreign language is desirable: Spanish or Sign Language preferred Required Qualifications Candidates must have a college degree. Preferably a Bachelors in Education, Art, Art History or a related discipline. Minimum 1 year experience working with children in an educational setting; Effective written and oral communication skills; Ability to enforce museum-specific etiquette with students; Be able to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including students, teachers, museum staff and visitors; Must have a flexible schedule that will allow for some fluctuation on a weekly basis.
