Art Teacher (K-12) Victory Charter School Are you an artist, creator, innovator, and educator who believes every child has a story worth expressing? Position Summary The Art Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging visual arts instruction that develops students' creativity, artistic techniques, critical thinking skills, and appreciation for the arts. The teacher will provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of artistic mediums while creating meaningful connections between art, culture, technology, and real-world applications. Teach a variety of artistic techniques and mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, graphic design, and other creative disciplines. Create a student-centered classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration, innovation, and creative risk-taking. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Foster appreciation for art history, cultural diversity, and contemporary artistic practices. Integrate technology and digital design tools into instruction when appropriate. Encourage student participation in school exhibitions, contests, and community art opportunities. Maintain high expectations for student achievement, creativity, and artistic growth. Art Program Development Develop and maintain an engaging visual arts curriculum that supports student growth from beginner to advanced levels. Create opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration with other subject areas. Maintain an organized and inspiring art studio or classroom environment. Manage art supplies, materials, equipment, and inventory responsibly. Assist in the selection of instructional resources and artistic materials. Student Showcases and Community Engagement Coordinate and facilitate the school's Bi-Annual Student Art Gala , highlighting student artistic achievement. Organize student art exhibitions, showcases, and displays throughout the school year. Create visually engaging displays, bulletin boards, and gallery spaces that celebrate student work. Build positive partnerships with families and community stakeholders through student art events and exhibitions. Classroom Management Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment. Implement school-wide PBIS expectations and positive behavior strategies. Supervise students and ensure the proper use and care of art materials and equipment. Promote collaboration, creativity, and student leadership within the classroom. Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to improve student outcomes. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school initiatives. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress reports. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and achievement. Uphold all school policies, procedures, and professional expectations. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art Education, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification. Experience teaching students in a classroom environment. Strong classroom management and instructional skills. Knowledge of visual arts techniques, media, and creative processes. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Florida Teaching Certification in Art Education. Experience teaching K-12 visual arts. Digital art, graphic design, photography, or multimedia experience. International Baccalaureate (IB) experience. Experience coordinating student showcases, exhibitions, or art programs. What Makes a Great Candidate?
