Art Teacher:

Instruction:
Plan and implement a rigorous skills-based Visual Arts curriculum focused on ceramics, drawing and painting. Ensure lessons are aligned with National Core Arts Standards to prepare students for higher education or professional creative paths.
Artistic Inquiry:
Foster critical thinking and visual literacy by guiding students through the creative process, historical art analysis, and formal critiques.
Technical Skill Development:
Provide expert instruction in drawing skills and various 2D mediums (printmaking, acrylic, watercolor) and ceramic techniques (hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing).
Inclusive Instruction:
Utilize diverse instructional strategies and scaffolded projects to ensure all learners—from beginners to advanced portfolio students—are challenged. Provide specific mentorship for students struggling with technical mastery.
Studio & Kiln Management :
Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment. Manage the kiln firing schedule, oversee the application of glazes, and ensure the proper storage and disposal of paint.
Professional Growth:
Keep abreast of contemporary art trends and pedagogical shifts in art education through gallery visits, workshops, and professional journals. 2. Spiritual & Personal Nurturing (The Heart) Beauty as a Path to
God:
Integrate the Holy Cross charism by helping students recognize the divine through the act of creation and the appreciation of beauty.
Faith Formation:
Participate actively in school masses, prayer services, and other school-wide faith formation events, modeling a life of service and integrity. 3. Preparation for
Leadership & Service Social Justice:
Incorporate Catholic Social Teaching as a framework for leadership
Theological Reflection:
Mentor student-led service projects, ensuring they are rooted in deep theological reflection rather than simple volunteerism.
Professional & Supervisory Duties Student Supervision & Safety Assigned Supervision:
Participate in Advisory program and perform duties such as cafeteria supervision, study group or tutoring session monitoring, and supervision of assigned student areas for community period or other school events.
Substitution:
Accept substitution duties for peers when needed to ensure continuity of student care.
Community Engagement & Administration Communication:
Maintain regular contact with parents, guardians, and sponsors regarding student progress.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate attendance records for all teaching and supervisory periods.
Policy Adherence:
Uphold all school policies as outlined in the Student Agenda and Employee Handbook.
Departmental Support:
Participate in the school improvement process and attend all faculty and departmental meetings.
Institutional Participation & Requirements Mandatory Events & Extracurriculars School Calendar:
Participate in key school events Parent Meetings, Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open Houses, Ninth Grade Entrance/Registration days, Senior Robing, Honors Programs, and Graduation.
