The Danforth Art Museum and the Danforth Art School were founded in 1973. Since then, the Danforth Art School has been providing high quality visual art classes to communities throughout the MetroWest region. In 2016, the Danforth relocated to Framingham Town Centre Common and, in 2018, the Danforth was welcomed into the Framingham State University community. The Danforth holds classes in our bright, spacious studios in a variety of media and experience levels for adults, teens and children.Our mission:
The Danforth Art School provides an inviting and inspiring setting within which students of all ages and levels can explore studio art practices. We create community through active engagement with museum exhibitions, a focus on excellence in instruction and through shared experiences.Job Description:
We are seeking experienced visual art instructors to teach children in Elementary and Middle School levels. Instructors are responsible for designing expansive lessons providing developmentally appropriate skill and concept building. Lessons should utilize museum exhibitions in study when appropriate. Classes are typically 2-3 hrs in duration, offered once a week after school and on weekends during Fall, Winter and Spring. Classes during the Summer Arts Program run weekly for 6 hrs a day. Classes during school vacation week are typically 2 full-day workshops. Instructors are expected to serve for several weeks during the summer program in addition to year-round programming.Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience teaching art to youth Bachelor's Degree in Visual Art fields, Education or related fields Demonstrated evidence of artistic expertiseAdditional Information:
This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The scheduled hours vary. The pay rate is $35 per hour. Framingham State University conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks on recommended finalists prior to final employment for all positions.
